The cooking workshops at St Chads have now finished, though the videos and recipe cards can be found on this blog.
However we have recently been awarded some funding from the Local Community Fund to continue the workshops and develop the growing part of the project at the Windmill Hills Centre in Bensham. This will involve continuing to work with professional chef Rob Stewart and with The4Cs and their community allotment. We will start of with three events over the next three Saturdays (30 November, 7 & 14 December) and hopefully continue into the new year with some more. If you want to get involved and come along and learn some new cooking and growing ideas and be creative then come along. No experience necessary, children and families are very welcome. All welcome. Saltwell Road Project, in collaboration with The 4C’s on Saturday 7th September, 1-4pm, are holding a ‘Community Allotment Celebration’ at The Windmill Hills Centre. The event will celebrate community allotment and growing activities in the Bensham & Saltwell area. Families are very welcome and there will be things to do for children during the day. Please confirm your attendance as mentioned on the poster.
The next ‘Bensham & Saltwell Cooks…’ event takes place on the 27 April, 1-3pm at St Chads Community Project and will be about cooking unfamiliar herbs with spices and pulses. We encourage participants to bring their own veg and cook along with chef Rob Stewart. Below is what will be cooked and a list of ingredients you will need. Cooking equipment will be provided.
